Coltness Car Club is the organising club of the Colin McRae Forest
Stages Rally. The rally is the final round of the Scottish Rally
Championship as well as a counter in the MSA British Historic
Championship and the Ecosse Challenge.
As well as lending his name to the rally, for many
years Colin drove opening car on the event. This was the only chance
that Colin's fans got to see the 1995 World Champion drive on home soil.
There was always a large crowd turned up to see Colin drive in his
'flat out' style in various cars. All the greats including the Sierra,
The MG Metro, the Focus WRC and the MKII Escort. Since Colin's death
the McRae family have asked Coltness to keep the name associated with
the event allowing the Club, the competitors and the fans to pay tribute
to the legend that was Colin McRae.
The 2012 Rally will run on the 6th October and will once again return to
the famous forest stages in Perthshire. The event will consist of 45
stage miles all centered round the Rally HQ town of Aberfeldy.
After the bad weather that dominated the 2011 rally a
few changes have been put in place to ensure a successful event this
year. The
main change is that the service areas are all on hard standing.
The 2012
Rally will adopt the same format as last year with the Historic cars
leading the way followed by all 2 wheel drive cars and then all 4 wheel
drive cars.
All the information on the event will be posted on
this website as it becomes available.
